The short version
MedCal does not have accounts, ads or analytics. Your schedule is stored on your iPhone and, if iCloud is turned on, in your own private iCloud. The developer cannot see it.
What MedCal stores
Your rotation, guard days, day statuses (such as vacation or sick leave), notes, swaps, extra guards and settings. This data lives on your device and in your private iCloud database, which Apple protects with your Apple Account. It is used only to run the app and to sync your devices.
Notes
Notes stay on your device and your iCloud. Please don't put patient information in them. MedCal is a personal scheduling tool and is not designed to hold medical records.
Apple Calendar and family sharing
If you turn on Apple Calendar sync or family sharing, MedCal asks for calendar access and writes your guard days to a calendar on your device. Family sharing uses a dedicated calendar that you share from Apple's Calendar app, through iCloud. Only the days you are on guard go there. Notes and team details never do. You can stop sharing at any time.
Reminders
Guard reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to a server.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple. MedCal uses RevenueCat to check whether you have MedCal Pro. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipts and basic device details, and never your schedule or notes. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/
What MedCal does not do
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no analytics SDKs, no selling or sharing of personal data, and no tracking on this website. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits in aggregate, with no cookies and nothing that identifies you.
Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove its data from your device. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage and delete MedCal's data. To remove the family calendar, delete it in the Calendar app.
Children
MedCal is built for healthcare workers and is not directed at children.
